Revised NLP Strength Training Program

24-Aug-2010

We have revised our strength training program to better fit into the busy lifestyle of our athletes.   The underlying base programming is Bill Starr's -- with additions thrown from Charles Poliquin.  Our goal is to focus on developing a strong strength base.  Remember having a set focus and dedication is the way improve anything.

What is the Strength program?

2-3 days a week of the core strength movements.  The 3 fundamental movements will bethe  Power clean , Bench Press and "low bar" Back Squat. We will also add in  the Deadlift, OHS, Shoulder Press and Front Squat

The program is designed as a 10 week cycle.  The format will begin as 5 sets x 5 reps or 3 sets x 5 rep sscheme in a circuit format.  And as the weeks progress the format will change to follow some wave and cluster programming.

Be sure to includes days of recovery work which includes running, walking, focused gymnastic and o-lift skill work.

This is a brief overview of the program.

Who is the this program designed for?

This programming is designed for upper-intermediate and advanced athletes. For those of you who are not quite there yet, feel free to scale as needed. It will be just as effective scaled down

You must request entry into the program before starting.  Please email, call, talk with Lamarr to determine if the program is what you need.

When is the Strength program?

For a more detail explanation please see Lamarr and come to our Monday or Wednesday 7:30pm Strength class.  Once you have display basic ability in the movements you can also come to any of the open gym times on the class schedule.

When can I begin the Strength program?

At any time.  This a progress strength program desgin for you to improve on what you lifted last week.  So where you start does not matter.  You will end up stronger than you were when you started.

Will I lose my CrossFit conditioning?

No,  the program is in addition to your normal CrossFit Wods.     You can follow a format of  3 days of strength training and 2 days of CrossFit Group wods. Your overall work capacity will increase.

Will this replace following the CrossFit wods?

No,  This a 10 week program with focus on Strength.  After this strength cycle we will be a lot stronger and the weights we use in CrossFit training and competitions will be easier and you will get more out of our olympic lifting program.  Having great technique will still be limiting if you are not strong enough to pull/ push the weight.

Any more questions please speak with Lamarr.....Anytime!
